Information and tools for making better decisions
Effective policymaking requires understanding the diversity of rural areas
Get to grips with rural policy tools
These pages provide information and tools for bringing a stronger rural perspective to local, regional and national policies and decision-making processes. Rural policy can only be implemented effectively if all government departments adopt a consistent approach to rural development on all levels of policymaking.
Independent research and development initiatives are needed both to address substantive rural policy questions and to promote place-based policymaking and development.
The recommendations and tools featured on these web pages are based on reports and findings of national rural research and development projects financed by Finland’s national Rural Policy Council.
