FOUNDATION OF THE ACTIVITY

The activity of the Rural Policy Committee is founded on the Rural Policy Programme. The present, fifth Rural Policy Programme is entitled Countryside for Vigorous Finland and it covers the years 2009-2013.

A Viable Countryside contains 146 proposals, which were formulated on the basis of negotiations within a broad network of stakeholders.

The Rural Policy Programme focuses on broad rural policy issues. It represents a procedure applied in Finland through which the impacts of the decisions taken by the central government on the rural areas can be brought into public discussion.

The Rural Policy Programme constitutes the action programme of the Rural Policy Committee. The measures of the programme also concern actors other than those representing the State administration.
